Bytheway

Web hosting is primarily an Internet service that helps organizations and individuals create their virtual presence on the Web. Web hosting companies have their respective servers and disk spaces that act as data centers. Files related to your website are stored in there, waiting to be retrieved just in case someone decides to check what your site has to offer.

There are a lot of web hosting services available. For one, you have the free web hosting service, where you don’t basically spend a single dime. This is ideal for beginners. However, if you’re planning to expand, shift to a paid hosting service. The former only gives you limited space and subdomains for your site.

You can search the Web for multitudes of paid hosting services. Their prices may vary depending on the packages they’re offering. You may settle for a dedicated server (where they allocate one server just for your file) or shared (where you share your space to other website owners). A good tip will be to go for the latter, just to see if you have chosen a very good company, and then shift to a dedicated web hosting when you’re comfortable with their services.

What do you get from web hosting? A lot. For example, you get your own web space. By that, you are allocated with enough storage to keep all your files for online publication. These include web pages, images, audios, and videos, to name a few. Normally, you may be provided at total space of 200 MB. Expensive ones can reach up to 500 MB.

Would you like a free e-mail? Unlike public e-mail addresses such as Gmail or Yahoomail, your e-mail address is exclusively patterned to your website. For example, should your website by called “Thomas.com” then expect your e-mail to read “

” perhaps. Such e-mail addresses are very important, especially if you’re truly serious in business. They mean that you are someone credible and not simply fooling around and wasting their time. After all, why would you spend if you aren’t, right?

Then you have bandwidth. This refers to how much data is being transferred over the Internet. A lot of people overlook this, simply because they’re enamored with the low prices of packages. If you’re web hosting company can’t offer you better bandwidth, then it will be very hard for your users to view your webpage, more so if a single webpage can contain a lot of images, audios, or videos. This is because they eat too much bandwidth.

You may have your own web host in your own PC, but that can be too risky. If you want to make it big, then settle for paid web hosting, even if you’re just a beginner.
